The 2024 Corporate and Industrial Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) Awards celebrated excellence in governance, innovation, and corporate leadership, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, and FIRS Chairman Muhammad Nami among the top honourees.
Held in Lagos, the awards recognised leaders and organisations for their outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s economy. Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu was praised for his advancements in public-private partnerships, with Adefisoye Adekunle, a Consultant and Financial Analyst from Lagos’ Office of Public-Private Partnerships, accepting on his behalf.
Gombe Governor Yahaya received accolades for governance reforms and sustainable development initiatives. FIRS Chairman Nami was commended for pioneering transformative tax administration policies that enhanced revenue generation.
Corporate Giants Recognised
Moniepoint, a fintech leader, was honoured for its innovation in digital financial services, while Dangote Industries and Rite Foods Ltd were celebrated for their impactful corporate social responsibility programs. Representing their organisations were Okey Nwankwo, Media Relations Manager, Dangote Industries, and Enuma Eze, Corporate Communications Manager, Rite Foods.
Olufemi Ajadi, MD/CEO of Bullion Go-Neat Global Limited, was also acknowledged for outstanding contributions to the business sector, with Bukola Adegboyega accepting on his behalf.
CICAN’s Legacy
Established 30 years ago, CICAN represents over 100 journalists from print, radio, television, and online platforms. Its mission is to spotlight developments in Nigeria’s real sector through consistent and credible reportage.
The event underscored the critical role of governance and corporate leadership in shaping Nigeria’s economic future. “These awards highlight the synergy between public and private sectors in driving sustainable development,” noted CICAN President, Toba Agboola.
The ceremony reaffirmed CICAN’s commitment to celebrating excellence and fostering partnerships across sectors for Nigeria’s growth.
