Police Arrest Trio Posing as Drivers to Rob Victims
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers who allegedly posed as commercial drivers to lure and rob victims, particularly young women. The suspects, identified as Vincent Omonigho (22), Omoni Ebi (34), and Tive Paul (33), were arrested in Abraka and Okuokoko, areas within Okpe Local Government.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects used a deceptive strategy to gain the trust of their victims. They reportedly frequented clubs where they enticed young women with promises of large sums of money before later robbing them on deserted roads.
“Upon receiving reports of suspicious activities, the Divisional Police Officer at Ekpan Police Station launched an intelligence-led investigation,” Edafe said. “This investigation eventually led to the arrest of the suspects.”
The suspects’ criminal activities involved robbing one of their victims and transferring N750,000 from her bank account. Additionally, they stole two high-end smartphones: an iPhone 15 Pro Max and an iPhone 13 Pro Max, which were taken during the robbery.
The Delta State Police Command has assured the public of continued efforts to combat such criminal activities, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious behavior.
