Newborn Baby Abandoned in Minna, Niger State
A day-old baby girl was abandoned by her mother in the early hours of Monday, November 11, 2024, in the New Market area of Minna, the capital of Niger State.
Residents reported hearing the baby’s cries around 1am, prompting them to investigate the source. The infant was discovered behind one of the houses in the area, alone and in distress.
Maryam Abdullah, a local resident, spoke to Daily Global Newspaper, describing the events: “The baby was found at the back of one of the houses at the New Market area around 1am when residents heard her cry. A nurse has been engaged to examine the health of the baby and she has been confirmed to be in good health. So, we want to contact the appropriate authorities to take custody of the baby.”
The authorities have been notified, and the baby has been placed in the care of medical professionals.
