Police Officer Killed, 2 Chinese Nationals Abducted in CR
A police officer was shot dead, and two Chinese nationals were abducted during a violent attack by gunmen on Thursday evening at Quarry Camp in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State. The gunmen, who were reportedly dressed in military camouflage, also stole the AK-47 rifle of the fallen officer.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 6, SP Nelson Okpabi, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement released to the press on Friday. Okpabi also disclosed that a Nigerian national was abducted along with the two Chinese nationals.
The gunmen reportedly gained access to the quarry after a worker inadvertently allowed a security breach at the entrance gate. Okpabi assured that the AIG in charge of Zone 6, Jonathan Towuru, has directed an extensive search for the perpetrators. “The Police hereby appeal to the people to be on the lookout and provide any useful information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators,” the statement read.
