EKEDC Begins STS 2.0 Meter Upgrade, Urges Token Use
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced the launch of its STS 2.0 meter upgrade for customers, commencing on Thursday, October 31, 2024. This upgrade, necessitated by the expiry of the current vending platform, aims to introduce a more efficient system for metered customers.
The upgrade process is straightforward and can be completed online. Customers are to visit the EKEDC portal, enter their meter number, and obtain two 20-digit Key Change Tokens (KCTs). By entering these tokens consecutively, customers can successfully transition to the new system. Alternatively, KCTs will be provided when customers purchase electricity units, alongside their regular token.
Babatunde Lasaki, EKEDC‘s General Manager of Corporate Communications and Strategy, urged customers to load any existing tokens before initiating the upgrade. “We encourage our customers to load any existing tokens before applying the KCTs, as old tokens will no longer work on upgraded meters,” Lasaki said.
To aid customers, EKEDC staff will be available at district and zonal offices and will offer assistance on Saturdays, November 2 and 9, 2024. The company confirmed that the upgrade process is entirely free, cautioning customers not to make any payments for the service.
