Dangote Pledges Steady Fuel Supply in Aso Rock Meeting

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has reaffirmed his refinery’s capacity to meet Nigeria’s local fuel needs, assuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the facility can supply up to 32 million litres daily to ease fuel shortages. Speaking after a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Dangote stated that his refinery was “more than ready” to support the country’s demand, asserting: “We can supply whatever is being consumed.”

The high-profile discussion, held on Tuesday, brought together key figures from Nigeria’s energy and financial sectors, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun; Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr Mele Kyari; Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Yemi Cardoso.

Dangote highlighted the refinery’s significant reserves, which hold around 500 million litres of fuel, enough to sustain local demand for 12 days if importation halted. He urged marketers to rely on local supplies, underscoring that “keeping half a billion litres in our tanks is costing us money.” He added, “If NNPCL and the marketers stop importing and start collecting from us, there will be no queues at the filling stations.”

The Finance Minister, Mr Edun, also stressed the importance of the Naira-based crude oil sales initiative, stating that the government is actively working with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation. He noted that private sector-led refining could provide essential raw materials for various industries, creating jobs and driving economic growth as part of President Tinubu’s strategy.

The meeting underscored a unified approach towards stabilising Nigeria’s oil sector and supporting private investment to enhance energy security and economic development. (Daily Trust) TikTok Founder Now China’s Rich Man
