Dangote Staff Killed in Accident Involving Company Bus

In a tragic incident on Saturday, Taoreed Okanlawon, an employee of Dangote Cement Industry, lost his life after a Dangote staff bus ran over him following a motorcycle accident at the Dangote Roundabout in the Ibese area of Yewa North Local Government, Ogun State.

An eyewitness told Daily Global Newspaper on Sunday that Okanlawon, a passenger on a motorcycle, was thrown off when the bike hit a speed bump, leading him to fall directly into the path of the oncoming staff bus.

“An employee of Dangote died this morning. He was on a motorcycle that ran into a speed bump, causing him to fall into the tyre of a Dangote staff bus. The bus ran over him and he died immediately,” the eyewitness recounted.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the driver of the staff bus, registered Lagos MUS 53 XS, fled the scene. She explained that the accident occurred when the motorcycle, operated by another Dangote employee, Achile Ejigho, attempted to overtake the bus but lost control after hitting a pothole, leading to a fatal collision.

“The passenger, Taoreed Okanlawon, was run over and died instantly,” Odutola said. She added that the deceased’s body was taken to a state hospital mortuary, while the injured motorcyclist was admitted to a nearby hospital and is reportedly recovering.

The Ogun State Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Efforts to reach Dangote Cement Industry’s spokesperson for comments were unreturned as of the time of this report.
