Gunmen Abduct Monarch and Eight Others in Kebbi

Armed bandits have abducted the district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya, along with eight others in a violent attack on Saturday in Kebbi State. The incident occurred when the assailants stormed Kanya village, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to three others, who are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the identity of the deceased as Sherrif Alhaji Almu, while providing details of the tragic event to our correspondent.

A combined security team, led by the police, has initiated a manhunt for the kidnappers, aiming to rescue the monarch and the other abducted individuals. “We are committed to apprehending the criminals and ensuring the safe return of the victims,” Abubakar stated.

He further noted that the Kebbi State government has provided the necessary logistics to combat banditry in the affected regions, particularly in Kebbi South and the Zuru Emirate.

This attack follows a series of violent incidents in the area, including the recent killing of the APC Chairman for Suru Local Government and another individual in Matseri village, located in the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The rising wave of insecurity continues to pose significant challenges to the safety and wellbeing of residents in the region.
