Dupe Olusola Launches Next Generation Foundation to Support Education for Underserved Children in Nigeria
Dupe Olusola, Managing Director and CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc, has unveiled a new philanthropic initiative, the Next Generation Foundation, aimed at transforming the lives of underserved and vulnerable children across Nigeria through education. This foundation is the latest step in Olusola’s enduring dedication to empowerment, fuelled by her unwavering belief in the power of education to uplift communities.
“Education changes lives—it opens doors to a future filled with opportunities, particularly for children who might otherwise be left behind,” Olusola remarked during the foundation’s launch. “Nigeria faces one of the highest out-of-school populations globally. With the Next Generation Foundation, I hope we can make a meaningful difference in changing that.”
The Next Generation Foundation will primarily focus on ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education and the chance to build a brighter future. This commitment is crystallised in the foundation’s flagship initiative, the *50 by 50 Project*, which was launched in celebration of Olusola’s 50th birthday. The multiyear scholarship programme will support 50 children from low-income families, aged 6 to 18, starting in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The 50 by 50 Project will provide comprehensive support to these children, covering free tuition, books, school uniforms, nutrition programmes, access to healthcare services, and mentorship. Initially, the initiative will focus on children in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, and Ogun States, with plans for expansion. The foundation will work closely with leading social impact organisations dedicated to improving educational outcomes.
In addition to offering scholarships, Olusola’s foundation aims to support broader education reforms in Nigeria, championing initiatives that ensure long-term sustainable improvements in the sector.
