Darkness and Erosion: Queenspark Estate Residents Fume Against Landmark Corporate Realty Over Broken Promises
Residents of Queenspark Estate, nestled in the burgeoning community of Simawa, Ogun State, are up in arms over unfulfilled promises and a deteriorating living environment, pointing fingers at the developer, Landmark Corporate Realty Limited, for failing to deliver on critical commitments.
Once envisioned as an idyllic haven, Queenspark Estate now grapples with poorly maintained roads and a lack of streetlights, shrouding the neighborhood in darkness. Beautification projects have vanished, leaving behind a sense of despair and disillusionment among property owners.
Dr. Joshua Odugbela, Chairman of the QueensPark Estate Residents Association, expressed disappointment, stating, “We were promised a well-maintained, secure estate, but reality paints a different picture. Roads are riddled with erosions, and without streetlights, basic safety is compromised.”
Landmark Corporate Realty Limited had promised to construct and maintain a good road network and drainage system within the estate. These promises, among others, enticed many investors to buy into the development. However, years after the first construction commenced, none of these commitments has materialized.
Despite the recent installation of a power transmitter, the estate remains in darkness, failing to fulfill its promise to connect residents to a reliable electricity source.
Residents’ appeals for action have been met with empty promises and minimal progress from Landmark, prompting a public outcry for accountability. Dr. Odugbela emphasized, “We’re urging Landmark to honor their commitments. They have a moral and contractual obligation to deliver on what they promised. This isn’t just about amenities; it’s about the quality of life we were sold.”
In a press statement, residents vowed to seek legal redress if the developer continues to ignore their grievances. “Legal recourse remains a looming possibility if the situation fails to improve. We deserve better,” declared the Association Chairman. “Queenspark Estate residents won’t settle for broken promises and neglect.”
The situation has been compounded by cases of building materials theft within the estate, despite assurances of watertight security during and after construction. Reports of theft have been submitted to the developer, but there has been no indication of replacement or compensation from the company.
This saga reflects the plight of residents entangled in a web of unfulfilled promises by many real estate developers in Nigeria. It underscores the community’s fight for accountability and serves as a cautionary tale for prospective Landmark property buyers. The united voice of the residents demands fairness and a living environment that lives up to its promises.
