In a heartfelt goodwill message addressed to the attendees of the 2023 Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service Conference, Dr. Aniebonam Okechukwu Boniface, founder of the Nigeria Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), expressed regret for the short notice of the invitation, citing ongoing legal battles demanding his attention.

Amidst a legal dispute at the Supreme Court over the Governorship of Kano State involving his party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Aniebonam commended the efforts to reposition the Nigeria Customs Service toward sustainable and more productive revenue collection.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by corruption in society, he expressed confidence that hard work and the support of stakeholders would be instrumental in achieving the objectives set forth. Dr. Aniebonam emphasized the critical role of the Nigeria Customs Service and its officers as the first officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Looking ahead, he encouraged the management team to foster professionalism in customs administration and facilitate international trade, with a focus on nation-building and economic development.

Dr. Aniebonam also offered a piece of advice, urging the Comptroller General to remain neutral in the avoidable rivalry between NAGAFF and ANLCA (Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents). He stressed the importance of concentrating on the statutory duties of leading the Nigeria Customs Service.

Dr. Aniebonam wished the conference success and pledged the support and cooperation of NAGAFF during the Comptroller General’s tenure. He concluded his message with a congratulatory note, expressing hope for a brighter future for the Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of the Comptroller General.
