TotalEnergies Expands Solar Projects in Nigeria, Bringing Power to Rural Communities

In a bid to boost Nigeria’s renewable energy sector and provide electricity to remote areas, TotalEnergies has announced the development of several solar projects, including the construction of the Katsina solar power plant in the country’s northwest region. As part of their commitment to sustainable energy solutions, the company’s affiliate, Total Eren, will also spearhead rural electrification projects.

The Katsina solar power plant is set to become one of the largest solar installations in Nigeria, with a capacity of 150 megawatts. The plant will harness the abundant sunlight in the region, generating clean and reliable energy to power homes, businesses, and institutions. This development aligns with Nigeria’s goal of diversifying its energy mix and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

TotalEnergies’ collaboration with Total Eren aims to address the energy needs of rural communities that currently lack access to electricity. Through innovative off-grid solutions and mini-grids, these projects will bring power to remote areas, improving the quality of life and enabling economic growth.

The expansion of solar projects in Nigeria reflects TotalEnergies’ commitment to sustainable development and their role as a responsible energy company. By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, TotalEnergies is contributing to Nigeria’s efforts to combat climate change and promote clean energy transitions.

With these initiatives, TotalEnergies is making significant strides towards a greener and more inclusive energy future for Nigeria, empowering communities and driving progress through renewable sources.
