Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan in ‘red zone’ for coronavirus
NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – The capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, has been in the red zone for the spread of coronavirus since December 10, Nur-Sultan’s Chief Sanitary Doctor Zhanna Pralieva said during an online briefing on December 11.
“Since December 10, the city has been in the ‘red zone’, and this is primarily due to non-compliance with preventive measures by residents of the city. On December 10, 118 primary laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus infection were registered,” Pralieva said.
According to her, pensioners, working citizens, doctors, military men, school children, and students fall ill.
She noted that Nur-Sultan will not be closed. There will likely be requirements for PCR certificates to enter and exit the city.
“There will be no checkpoints. For example, checkpoints have been set up in the East Kazakhstan region, since more than 200 cases are registered there every day, and in Nursultan, from 50 to 120 cases per day,” Pralieva said.
