Police in Brussels have shut down a lockdown orgy with 25 attendees, including several diplomats and a member of the European Parliament, local media reported on Tuesday.

The party took place in an apartment in the Rue des Pierres, in the centre of Brussels, the public prosecutor’s office confirmed to Het Nieuwsblad. All of the attendees, most of whom were men, received a fine for violating Coronavirus restrictions currently in place in Belgium.

The police also discovered drugs at the site, in particular ecstasy pills, officials said.

The MEP reportedly tried to flee from the window, injuring himself, but was caught and questioned by authorities. The news outlet also reported that the EU lawmaker invoked his immunity.

Following the Belgian media reports, Hungary’s MEP of Fidesz ruling party, Jozsef Szajer acknowledged in a statement that he attended the party and apologised for breaching Belgian coronavirus restrictions, adding that he will “suffer the penalties.”

Szajer, an ally of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had resigned on Sunday from his post as an EU lawmaker, “after a long period of reflection.”
